(ANSA) - BEIJING, NOVEMBER 16 - Chinese President Xi Jinping today expressed his disappointment with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, accused of having told the media the contents of their brief conversation they had Tuesday on the sidelines of the G20 in Bali, Indonesia.
"Everything we discussed was leaked to the newspapers.
It's not appropriate. This is not how the conversation was conducted," Xi said, visibly annoyed based on the images filmed by the pool TV and according to the English translation made by his interpreter.
Trudeau replied that "in Canada we believe in a free, open and frank dialogue that we will continue to have. I will continue to try to work constructively, but there will be things we disagree on."
"Let's create the conditions first," Xi retorted, before greeting his interlocutor with a tight smile and a nervous handshake.
