The UN World Climate Summit in Sharm al-Sheikh ends on November 18th.

The climate thriller "The world is tipping" takes up important climate issues.

My book tip.

The 27th UN World Climate Conference took place in Sharm al-Sheikh, Egypt, with over 190 participating countries.

Basically, this time it was also about how to curb increasing global warming, how this transformation can succeed.

But the main issue was money.

How far China is in the field of climate protection and how that influences western countries is what Heiko von Tschischwitz has packed into a gripping thriller with "Die Welt kippt".

"The world is tipping over": That's what the blurb says

Tessa Hansen has dedicated her life to fighting the climate catastrophe.

When she meets the Silicon Valley investor Shannon O'Reilly, she unexpectedly finds a like-minded person in her.

But Tessa soon realizes that Shannon has no qualms when it comes to protecting the climate... Meanwhile, China is pushing ahead with a plan of its own of gigantic proportions that is baffling the incapacitated western democracies.

A race against time ensues, and soon Tessa must ask herself what she is willing to sacrifice for her beliefs.

"The world is tipping over": That's why it's worth reading

Several perspectives collide in this climate thriller.

On the one hand, Tessa Hansen, who, as a climate activist, almost falls victim to an assassination attempt at the beginning of the book.

She has been committed to climate protection since she was a child.

On the other hand, Shannon O'Reilly, almost twice her age, who manages and invests vast amounts of money for climate protection projects as an investor in Silicon Valley.

The protagonists are then joined by the Green German Chancellor, Carsten Pahl, the American President, James Nightingale, and the Chinese Minister of the Environment, Zhang Li.

Tschischwitz interweaves the character constellations in an exciting way, peppered with researched climate facts and an appendix for classifying the events contained in the book.

Terms such as supercomputing, solar water splitting and geoengineering are explained in more detail.

I found this very helpful for a better understanding.

One or the other character may correspond to a cliché, but they do not detract from the exciting plot with a current connection.

But on the contrary.

Von Tschischwitz manages to make people think about climate protection, which should also result in action.

Heiko von Tschischwitz "The world is tilting": My conclusion

A novel could hardly be more up-to-date, especially in relation to the COP27 climate conference 2022. Exciting to read from someone who knows the subject.

Instead of a novel, I would put the book in the category "cli-fi" (climate fiction) / thriller.

What scientists say about global warming can be read in "3 degrees more".
