In East Saxony, the fire brigade and helpers rescued a wolf from a gully shaft.
A walker discovered the animal on Friday morning in Deschka in the Görlitz district when his dog was growled at from a depth of two and a half meters, according to the police in Görlitz.
The wolf had apparently fallen into the shaft and was unable to free itself.
The passer-by called the police, who in turn alerted the fire brigade and the experts from the East Saxon wolf office Lupus.
The animal was stunned and pulled out of the gully by firefighters.
The wolf, apparently unharmed, was taken to a veterinarian for further treatment.
Now it has to be decided whether the animal will be released back into the wild.
In Saxony, 31 wolf packs and several wolf pairs were last counted.
