Grönemeyer fans have been waiting for a new song for a long time.
His new single entitled »Deine Hand« has now been released.
Grönemeyer has not made any new music since 2019.
He will perform the song live on "Wetten, dass...?"
present for the first time in Friedrichshafen.
In »Deine Hand«, Grönemeyer describes and processes, by his own admission, feelings of being lost and latent loneliness that many people experienced during the Corona period.
“I think we've been very isolated in recent years.
That we had the feeling that we were very much on our own," said Grönemeyer of the dpa.
"Also because of the virus, which of course made us all very isolated." And so it says in the refrain: "Your hand gives me the support I so urgently need in order not to break.
Hold her tight!'
In addition, the 66-year-old musician is concerned about the same issues that many people are currently concerned with: the climate crisis, the war in Europe or developments in Iran.
The world is currently "out of joint when it comes to the climate catastrophe, the war in Ukraine and brutal regimes like Iran," said Grönemeyer, who grew up in Bochum.
In addition, there is this “real, ever-increasing loneliness of people”.
But especially in particularly difficult times, everyone needs someone they can rely on or someone they can just hold on to.
Grönemeyer's new album is scheduled for release in March 2023.
Since 1984, all of his German-language studio albums have reached number one in the German album charts.
His album Mensch (2002) sold 3.6 million copies, 3.15 million of them in Germany, making it the second best-selling music album in Germany.
With over 18 million records sold domestically, Grönemeyer is Germany's most commercially successful contemporary musician.
