Charlene of Monaco has already presented many awards.
The princess is no longer in the habit of receiving them.
At least not since she ended her career as a professional swimmer in 2007. Her husband Albert II nevertheless decorated her with a medal for physical education and sports on Thursday, November 17, during a ceremony organized at the Louis II stadium.
The princess thus received the Vermeil medal, which "pays tribute to her sporting career and her commitment to the sporting life of the Principality", can be read on the official Instagram account of the prince's palace.

A multi-award winning athlete

Her swimming prowess once earned her three gold medals - for the 50m and 100m backstroke, and the 4x100m relay - during the 2002 World Cup, and the silver medal during the Commonwealth of Manchester - for the 4x100m relay.
The Princess works today, through her Foundation, to save lives by fighting against drowning, and in favor of education by transmitting the values of sport.
She is also the godmother of AS Rugby Monaco and the Special Olympics Charity Foundation – devoted to people with intellectual disabilities -, of which she is the global ambassador.
In November 2012, the princess had received a reward of a completely different kind.
She had thus been awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Saint-Charles, the highest of Monegasque distinctions.
