(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, NOVEMBER 18 - The United States "will not have discussions with Russia on peace in Ukraine without Kiev being a part of it".
This was reiterated by the spokesman for the US National Security Council, John Kirby, in a virtual briefing with the press.
"We are not participating in discussions about ending the war with Russia," he added, noting that Washington "relies on Zelensky."
"It's up to him to decide when."
"Russia's threatening rhetoric on nuclear power is the reason why the United States is keeping the channels of communication open with Moscow: to avoid an escalation," added Kirby of the meeting a few days ago in Ankara between the head of the CIA William Burns and its Russian counterpart.
