ARD World Cup moderation: Jessy Wellmer moves up for Alexander Bommes

The ARD team has to change moderators at short notice for the World Cup.
Alexander Bommes, 46, cannot be used for health reasons, the public broadcaster announced on Monday.
Jessy Wellmer will take over his job.
The 42-year-old, together with the experts Almuth Schult, Thomas Hitzlsperger and Sami Khedira, will "present the programs in the first from the ARD studio in Mainz from Wednesday," it said.
At the ZDF location in Mainz, ARD and the second have a joint World Cup studio.
Bommes was to moderate the broadcasts for ARD, Jessy Wellmer was intended for the "Sportschau Thema" that will be broadcast four times during the World Cup.
It is still unclear who will host this show.
ARD sports coordinator Axel Balkausky sent recovery wishes to Bommes and thanked Wellmer for stepping in at short notice.
ARD will show their first live games of the World Cup in Qatar on Wednesday, including the opening match between the German national team and Japan (2 p.m.).
