Epson, one of the world's leading printer manufacturers, exits the laser printing market.
This was announced by the Japanese giant himself who presented the group's new strategy: in the so-called "printing" department it will now turn entirely to inkjet solutions, inkjet.ù
"Let's do an act of kindness towards the environment - says Massimo Pizzocri, CEO of Epson Italy - The decision to abandon the laser printer market is consistent with our choices, which cannot be linked only to commercial interests, we look at the sustainable innovation. Our business will be fully focused on our proprietary piezoelectric cold-head inkjet technology. This will enable us to provide efficient and sustainable printing solutions to partners and businesses."
According to some data from IDC analysts, the inkjet printer market is destined to grow precisely at the expense of laser ones.
According to the numbers, in Western Europe the business inkjet machine segment will grow at a rate of 5.1% per year, while demand for laser models will decline by 0.4%.
In 2022, the segment in Italy will grow by 10%, i.e. more than the European average, and will reach 28% of the total printing market by 2026. The IDC research also shows that almost 90% of decision makers in the hardware field now considers energy consumption and waste reduction "extremely" or "very" important when choosing new printing devices.
