Taken over by a former manager, André, an iconic brand of shoes at low prices, is making a remarkable comeback with inspired lines.

In just two years, François Feijoo, André's new director, has managed to breathe new life into this little piece of French heritage, born in 1896. “I am a passionate shoe maker, explains the CEO.

When I joined the company in August 2020, the objective was clear: to revive the brand with a strong sympathy capital, which has animated the main shopping streets of the country for more than a century.

André is the know-how of its founders, that of shoemakers who knew how to make shoes at the right price.”

A story of know-how that began in Nancy 126 years ago, when Albert Lévy joined forces with a namesake, Jérôme, to start manufacturing shoes.

Their credo?

Fit the whole family.

The sales network was born, but it is not yet called André.

This name did not appear until 1904, when the partners bought two Parisian boutiques operated under this brand.

The first name was very fashionable at the time and the sounding appealed to them.

In 1932, boosted by the famous slogan of advertiser Marcel Bleustein-Blanchet – “The shoemaker knowing how to fit” – André dominated the French shoe market.

A shoe size.

"The good quality/price ratio while being comfortable, such is the common thread of the André house, from the selection of leathers to the lining and the finishes", proclaims François Feijoo.

The company has also made a return to production: “In two years, 95% of André's production has been brought back to Europe, and more specifically to Italy, Spain and Portugal.

Only sports shoes, which require a special manufacturing technique, are still designed in Asia.

This proximity allows us to adapt our offer to the needs and desires of our customers.”
