The Lottery announced today (Sunday) the five finalists for the Lottery's Sapir Prize for Literature for 2022, known as the "short list":

"Sister to the Pleiades" by Orit Ilan (published by Kinneret Zamora-Beitan Dvir)

"All five of us" by Sami Berdugo (Exclamation Mark Publishing)

"The mother-in-law of Tammuz" by Ilana Bernstein (published by Kinneret Zamora-Beitan Dvir)

"Hashtkan" by Ari Lieberman (Ahuzot Beit Publishing)

Sami Bardugo won the Sapir Prize for Literature in 2020.

The five nominated writers will receive a grant of NIS 60,000.

The winner of the prize will receive a grant of NIS 180,000 and his book will be translated and published in the Arabic language and translated into another foreign language of his choice.

In addition, the lottery will purchase an edition of 500 books from the books of the five writers selected as part of the "short list" and as part of the "Book of Debuts", and will give them as a gift to public libraries throughout the country.

The winner of the Sapir Prize for Literature will be chosen in a festive ceremony on January 2, 2023.
