Ökotest finds impurities in all Santa Clauses - only seven are recommended

Ökotest took a closer look at Santa Clauses and Santa Clauses made of chocolate - the results are frightening.
Impurities were found in all tests.
Stuttgart - The fact that Christmas is just around the corner can not only be guessed at by the Christmas markets that are about to start in Germany, but also by the gingerbread and chocolate Santa Clauses in supermarkets and discounters.
In the candy shelves at Kaufland, Edeka, Aldi, Lidl and Co. you are spoiled for choice - whether from Lindt, Milka or Alnatura, the delicious Santa Clauses smile at customers in a friendly way.
However, Ökotest has now taken a closer look at the red hats and made some unpleasant discoveries.
Ökotest finds mineral oil contamination in all chocolate lice
Ökotest sent a total of 23 chocolate Santa Clauses to the laboratory for testing.
These include seven made from organic chocolate and four vegan products.

In the end, however, none of the chocolate Santas was convincing: contamination with mineral oil components was found in all products.
The mineral oil contamination can be found in many foods such as rice or cooking oils.
They usually get into the food during production processes or storage, but they can also be found in packaging.
According to
Stern
, these are often saturated mineral oil hydrocarbons (MOSH).
They accumulate in the body and can damage organs.
On the other hand, aromatic mineral oil hydrocarbons (MOAH), which can lead to hormonal disorders and are also suspected of being carcinogenic and mutagenic, are more critical.
Among the 23 Santa Clauses tested by Ökotest, Alnatura's whole milk Santa Claus (EUR 2.19) has the highest proportion of mineral oil components and was rated "poor".
Two vegan products also received this rating, including the Riegelein Merry Xmas Santa (1.59 euros).
A total of five products failed.

According to Ökotest, only seven Santa Clauses are recommended
In the end, Ökotest can only recommend seven out of 23 chocolate Santas.
These include the Milka Santa Claus alpine milk for 1.09 euros or the organic chocolate Santa Claus from Naturland (1.95 euros), which is available from the drugstore chain dm.
For vegan offers, Ökotest can recommend Yann's organic chocolate Santa Claus vegan (2.99 euros).
All in all, the result is not a nice present for the chocolate Santa Clauses.
