Two pedestrians were seriously injured in a car accident in Düsseldorf on the luxury shopping street Königsallee near the Christmas market.
The police assume that an 84-year-old had lost control of his car.
It is still unclear whether his car hit the two pedestrians or whether the car hit another, which then injured the people, a police spokesman told SPIEGEL in the evening.
The spokesman went on to say that both people were out of danger.
Another four people would be treated for minor injuries, the driver and his passenger would have been in shock.
Pictures showed that parked e-scooters were also destroyed in the accident.
According to the spokesman, it is not yet clear how exactly the accident happened.
Light reflections from a traffic light and drizzle could have played a role.
It is not yet known how fast the car was going.
