(ANSA) - PARIS, NOVEMBER 22 - Iranian security forces have killed 72 people, including 56 in the Kurdish regions, in the last week of the crackdown on protests against the regime.
This was announced today by the NGO Iran Human Rights (IHR) based in Oslo, adding that the total death toll since the beginning of the protest movement unleashed on 16 September last by the death of Mahsa Amini, has risen to 416. 51 children and 21 women, according to Ihr.
The NGO Hengaw instead confirmed the death of 42 people in the Kurdish regions in a week, almost all killed by firearms.
Over the past seven days, most of the casualties have occurred in these regions of western Iran, where Tehran has sent armed reinforcements as protests escalate.
