A young dog is in danger of freezing and starving - she lives on garbage and hopes for rescue.
Your patience will be rewarded in the end.
According to PETA
, up to 80,000 pets are abandoned on remote paths, in the forest or in front of facilities across Germany every year
: although there is a risk of heavy fines.
They are often in a state of neglect and need urgent help.
But even abroad, the formerly loved animals often meet this terrible fate.
Hundreds of thousands of pets around the world are abandoned by their owners and left on the streets every day.
Where from now on they have to fight for their lives completely on their own.
That's probably what happened to Missouri dog Little Toes – when animal-loving local residents spotted an emaciated dog feeding on their trash, they informed Stray Rescue of St. Louis (SRSL).

In search of food, the little one roams the neighborhood for days.
She discovers the residents' rubbish bins and settles down there – despite the freezing cold.
But then everything should change: Donna Lochmann, a senior employee of the animal protection organization, finds the young dog.
"When we arrived she was still digging through the trash because she was hungry and we could see she was emaciated," she tells
The Dodo

But first the woman has to gain the dog's trust.
She tries some treats.
"She was very receptive to the sausages," she reveals.
"But when I knelt down and offered her something, she walked past the food and came right up to me."
The animal rights activist can put on her collar and leash and thus lead her to the car.
She names her Little Toes because her little paws are so terribly cold.
