The Walking Dead: This is how the zombie series ends

After eleven seasons, The Walking Dead finally ends with Rest in Peace.

What happened in the big and extra-long season finale and how did it work out?

And how does the series differ from the comics? 

After eleven seasons (so far), “The Walking Dead” has produced 193 comic issues, 177 episodes and numerous spin-offs.

At one point between seasons five and seven, the survival horror format was possibly the most successful series in the world, but no hype lasts forever and at some point viewer interest dropped significantly in the ratings.

Now the series finale "Ruhe in Frieden" aka "Rest in Peace" (11x24) is here and it has everything that makes a fan's heart happy or tense.

You could say that this is a pretty smooth finale, at least if you liked the series and the characters anyway.
