The most powerful woman in Spain received a skewer of star models, on the occasion of the opening of the exhibition dedicated to the work of Steven Meisel, in Galicia.

La Coruña, a new place that counts in fashion?

Marta Ortega Pérez is in any case doing her best to work in this direction.

This 38-year-old pure Galician took over last April the presidency of the Inditex group, the world leader in fast fashion, whose headquarters are in Arteixo, about fifteen kilometers from La Coruña.

And moved the (socialite) crowds to their homes in mid-November for the inauguration of the exhibition she is dedicating to Steven Meisel, the American fashion photographer who invented the concept of supermodels in the 1990s, making Claudia, Naomi, Elle or Cindy the queens of the fashion industry.

On November 16, 2022, the day of the opening, these models were not all there.

But there were Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Natalia Vodianova, Amber Valletta, Irina Shayk, Karlie Kloss, Honor Fraser, Pat and Anna Cleveland, Karen Elson, Anna Sui and Coco Rocha.

A very jet-set assembly whose hostess had the honors, quite enough to help upscale the image of the group without it losing its mechanics of fast fashion (mass production and cheap) .

Glamor and Fast Fashion

This is the second exhibition promoted by the president of Inditex.

The first, a retrospective of Peter Lindbergh's work given in 2021, had already mobilized the entire fashion intelligentsia in this little piece of Spain, and highlighted the energy deployed by the 30-year-old to reposition the group, built by his father, Amancio Ortega, on more upscale ground.

A work undertaken several years ago: since 2017, part of the campaigns of the Zara brand have been entrusted to Steven Meisel.

The 68-year-old New York portrait artist, a fashion icon, also portrayed Marta Ortega Pérez for the cover of the

Wall Street Journal supplement

in August 2021. Attached to the visual aesthetic of Zara (the group's goose), which she now wants close to that of a fashion magazine, the fashion boss intends to work on her network, so as to launch premium collections with leading personalities;

Zara recently collaborated with the model Kaïa Gerber and the former boss of Vogue magazine, Emmanuelle Alt.

Proof that the time when the brand was despised by the greats of this environment is long gone.
