How to get out of bed at 10 am?

There is nothing harder than getting out of a warm bed on a cold winter morning.

For some of us it may take even an hour, others get up, are exposed to the cold and immediately go back under the covers and only the bravest succeed against every instinct to do the impossible - get out of bed immediately and not return to it.

According to sleep expert Martin Seeley, we don't have to continue to suffer like this every morning until summer comes.

He claims there are five things we can do to help us deal with the cold that awaits us outside the blanket.

One of his tips known as the "10 second rule" promises to get you out of bed within 10 seconds of the alarm clock ringing - but for some of you it won't be easy at all to implement.

Here are his tips:

sleep with warm clothes

Martin Seeley, CEO of MattressNextDay, suggests sleeping with warm clothes to make it easier to get up on a cold morning. The expert claims that the decision to go to bed in thin pajamas or no clothes at all makes us more sensitive to the cold and may even cause us to wake up in the middle of the night from the cold.

He said: "Going to bed with only a few items of clothing, if any, will make your body more sensitive to the feeling of the cold outside, as you offer it little if any protection.

This in turn can lead to a night of disturbed sleep and cause you to wake up several times during the night feeling cold, making your mornings that much more difficult."

He added: "If you feel uncomfortable wearing too many layers to bed, keep some warm clothes nearby that you can Wear as soon as you get up.

You might also want to put on socks.

Lightweight thermal pajamas are the best option for a warm garment that is also comfortable to sleep in."

hot shower

One of the ways to warm your body after crawling out of bed is to take a hot shower which should regulate your body temperature and keep you warm for a long time.

Martin said: "If you find it difficult to wake up in the morning because of the cold, the quickest way to fix it is to have a hot shower first thing in the morning. A hot shower helps to regulate your body temperature, get the blood flowing and gradually warm your body. It will also help you feel warm by the time you get dressed , which will make your morning routine much easier."

The 10 second rule

Martin claims that the "10-second rule" is the simplest and most effective way to get out of bed in the morning, since the whole idea is to force you out of bed before you've even had a chance to think about how warm and comfortable you'll be staying in it.

All you have to do is jump out of bed within 10 seconds of your alarm going off, wrap yourself in something warm like a robe, and immediately leave your bedroom - so you don't have the chance to dive back into bed.

The expert said: "The worst thing you can do when you wake up cold is to just lie in bed and think about how cold it is outside and how comfortable you are in bed. Often this can make us feel even worse about the fact that the morning has arrived and demotivate us for the rest of the day. Once the clock The alarm is on, get up. Take warm clothes and leave the room without thinking too much. The body will wake up and adjust itself."

This can also work:

Set a heating operation for the morning

If you also hate sleeping with an air conditioner or a heater, there is no reason to do so.

However, if you have a radiator or air conditioner that can be scheduled to turn on - set it to start heating about half an hour or an hour before your alarm clock wakes you up.

That way you won't have to sleep with the heating on, but you can wake up to a room that is already warm enough to get out of bed.

Martin said: "Check the settings of the heating and schedule it for early morning at a low intensity. It should heat your room to a level that will allow you to take off the blanket and go out. Be sure to keep your bedroom door closed to ensure that the heat does not escape from the room."

light box

Martin's last tip is less about room or body temperature and more about another troubling problem in the winter season: the darkness outside.

Most of us wake up in the morning to complete darkness, which makes it even more difficult for us to wake up and start the day.

If you also face dark mornings, Martin suggests purchasing a light box - which is a lamp designed to imitate natural sunlight of the summer months and scheduled to turn on when the alarm clock is activated.

The light boxes, also known as daylight lamps or SAD lamps, can be purchased from Amazon and the price ranges from 100 to 400 shekels.

Martin explains: "One of the hardest things when you wake up during the fall and winter is the lack of natural sunlight in the room. The best way to deal with the situation is to purchase a light box. Light boxes actually copy sunlight - and are an effective way to add some light to your mornings."
