Spouses from North Rhine-Westphalia receive a crazy electricity bill from their provider.
An anxious week begins for the couple.

A married couple from North Rhine-Westphalia almost fell out of their feet when they opened a letter from the electricity provider.
It was the annual accounts.
At the beginning, the provider informs your thermal energy that a credit will be reimbursed.

There it says how much the spouses should pay in advance in the future: instead of 145 euros, a whopping 36,967 euros – every month.

A woman in the United States fared even worse.
Well before the energy crisis, it should have paid $284 billion to its electricity provider.
Derix couldn't believe it and tried to call the electricity company, an Eon subsidiary.
"I really wanted to get this sorted out quickly," he said.
But nothing came of it, he didn't get through.
The answering machine was always on for three days in a row.

Finally, the first debit occurs.
36,967 euros are debited from the account by direct debit.
After almost a week, the 60-year-old finally reached an employee.
"As it looks here, everything is entered normally," the man from the service center explained to me.
But he had to laugh himself," Derix told the newspaper.
But the call center was initially unable to help, other than promising that the matter would be forwarded.
When Derix heard nothing more, he called again.
Another employee told him the matter was under investigation.
Horrendous electricity bill: Good news comes after anxious hours
Hours later and apparently only after the editors of the
Rheinische Post
had checked with Eon, the electricity provider reported with the redeeming message: "Due to a regrettable internal error, the customer's consumption was unfortunately assumed to be significantly too high for this transitional period." The Eon Spokesman promised that the bill would be adjusted immediately.

The invoice has been corrected.
Instead of almost 37,000 euros, the Derix couple will pay 124 euros a month in the future.
On Mallorca, a German received a horrendous electricity bill for a period in which he was not on the island at all.
