Females smarter than males: This is how the animals rate us

A Japanese study shows that female dogs are able to judge certain human behavior and use it to their advantage.

Dogs are intelligent, sensitive, and lovable pets, as dog owners generally agree.

However, Japanese scientists have now even been able to scientifically prove that the animals are not only smart, but in some cases even able to evaluate human actions and then use them for themselves.

This characteristic was even more pronounced in bitches than in males.

So it's actually not imaginary: dogs react very sensitively to the behavior of their owners and the animal's slanted, slightly reproachful look can mean that they don't agree at all with the behavior of their master or mistress.

At least one Japanese study now suggests that dogs are able to evaluate their owners' actions and respond accordingly.

Bitches are smarter than males: open boxes in front of the animals

The researchers came to this conclusion by proceeding as follows: they showed male and female dogs two people who were each trying to open a transparent box with an object inside.

One person opened the box without effort and was able to get out the item inside (successful person).

The other person, on the other hand, should pretend to have difficulty opening the container (unsuccessful person).

The two people repeated this process twice in front of the dogs with different containers - both times one person was better at opening the box than the other.

The third round consisted of two rounds: in the first round the boxes of the test subjects contained food, in the second round they did not.

In both rounds, both test persons tried to open the container assigned to them at the same time, whereby the successful person should be able to do it, the unsuccessful person should not.

30 dogs per round watched people trying to open the box.

Bitches are smarter than males: When it comes to food, things get serious

The third round showed that if the box was full of food, the dogs looked much more fixedly at the successful person than at the unsuccessful one.

Bitches in particular were very attentive and followed the actions of the more competent person more intensively than males.

If the boxes were not filled with food, the dogs showed no preferences and followed both test subjects equally with their eyes.

Bitches smarter than males: Researchers suspect that dogs have evaluation skills

From the scientists' point of view, the results of the study show that dogs can evaluate the competence of humans in a certain way and behave accordingly.

It is also worth paying close attention to the gender differences in dogs that relate to their ability to evaluate social situations.
