Bargain foxes are already scratching their hooves: Black Friday is imminent.
But Amazon founder Jeff Bezos of all people is now taking the wind out of the sails of the bargain hunters.
Munich – Black Friday is almost a public holiday for everyone who still wants to get hold of one or the other present at a reasonable price before Christmas, fulfill a long-awaited shopping dream or simply want to shop extensively.
On Bargain Day of the year, the best deals and cheapest finds are said to be found everywhere - at least that's what you should think.
Shortly before Black Friday: Jeff Bezos warns against large purchases
Ironically, the founder of the shipping giant Amazon now comes with warning words.
Although Jeff Bezos is no longer the head of the company, but is content with his role as CEO, when it comes to shopping in the digital world, Bezos should not fool anyone.
And for consumers, he now has a warning that no one should want to hear.
Because in an interview with the US broadcaster CNN, Bezos recently asserted that it was not the best time for shopping sprees.
Rather, customers should currently keep their money together.
A full-blown recession is on the way and is threatening to hit the global economy.
It is therefore advisable for customers and companies to put cash reserves aside in the event of an economic downturn.
Cash reserves are a must-have right now.
"The economic situation doesn't look great right now," Bezos said.
The upturn is slowing down, and layoffs can be observed in many sectors of the economy.
"If we're not already in a recession, we're probably going to be in one soon," the former Amazon CEO said.
Amazon announces layoffs
He can tell you a thing or two about it, because the company recently announced that it would lay off 10,000 employees, reports the New York Times.
The call to save draws even more attention, which would also affect the shipping giant.
One should be prepared for an economic disaster, Bezos continued.
Being prepared for the worst and hoping for the best is the motto.
