Police searched apartments in Leipzig on Thursday morning after the »Last Generation« group attacked Raphael's »Sistine Madonna« in Dresden.
A spokesman for the Saxon State Criminal Police Office confirmed the operation.
Investigations are being carried out into public property damage to the world-famous work of art from 1512/13.
The LKA did not explain why the apartments were searched three months after the crime.
The State Criminal Police Office in Saxony announced that a 22-year-old woman and two men aged 22 and 29 were being investigated.
The accused are said to have entered the "Old Masters" picture gallery on August 23 at around 11:40 a.m.
There, the 22-year-old and the 29-year-old suspect are said to have glued their hands to the frame of the painting "Sistine Madonna" at 12:10 p.m. using superglue.
The 22-year-old co-accused is said to have handed the two a banner with the inscription "Last Generation", which they held in front of them.
Meanwhile, the young man filmed the action and then shared it on social media.
According to the State Criminal Police Office, the action caused damage of around 4,000 euros.
According to earlier information from the art collections, the damage should be in the five-digit range.
