Happy Thanksgiving!

"Gobble till you wobble!" is a common phrase that family and friends call out to each other tonight as they gather for the Thanksgiving feast.

Loosely translated, it is "eat/swallow until you shake!" and that's sort of the

motto of the day

.

From sweet potatoes with marshmallow crust and bread cube filling (comparable to bread dumplings) to Brussels sprouts and green bean casseroles to pumpkin pie and pecan pie - the list of favorite dishes is long.

The heart of the meal is the

turkey 🦃

, which weighs a good 8 kilograms on average.

So that the host does not have to toil in the kitchen for several days, everyone participates in the dinner by bringing the side dishes and desserts themselves.

That way, the person who invites everyone can focus on the big bird in the oven.

Fancy a Thanksgiving dinner but don't have room for a big hungry pack or turkey?

Then prepare your own

little feast

on a

single baking sheet

.

Everything that makes a successful Thanksgiving meal is included - at least from a culinary point of view.

Happy Thanksgiving!

That's how it's done:

You need these ingredients for your simple feast:

  • Filling / Stuffing:

  • 400 g sourdough bread, diced

  • 30 grams of butter

  • 80 g onions, diced

  • 100 g seed celery, diced

  • 100 g carrots, diced

  • 150 ml chicken stock

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp pepper

  • 1 tbsp dried thyme

  • 1 tbsp parsley, chopped

  • 1 egg, whisked

  • turkey breast:

  • 1 kg turkey breast

  • 50 g herb butter

  • 100 g bacon, sliced

  • Cauliflower:

  • 500 g Brussels sprouts, cleaned and halved

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

  • 0.5 tsp salt

  • 0.5 tsp pepper

  • Sweet Potatoes with Marshmallows:

  • 500g sweet potatoes, peeled and diced

  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

  • 20 grams of butter

  • Marshmallows

The preparation is easier than you think:

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C for a circulating air.

  • For the stuffing:

Place the bread cubes on a baking tray lined with baking paper and roast in the oven for 30 minutes.

Alternatively, you can let the bread dry overnight.

Melt butter in a pan and sauté onions, celery and carrots in it.

Deglaze with vegetable stock and season with spices and parsley.

    Allow to cool slightly.

Mix the vegetables together with the bread cubes and an egg and place on one half of a baking sheet lined with baking paper.

  • For the turkey breast:

Place the turkey breast in the middle of the stuffing.

Brush with herb butter on all sides and top with slices of bacon so that the entire turkey breast is covered.

  • For the Brussels sprouts:

Place the cleaned and halved Brussels sprouts on a quarter of the baking sheet.

    Cover with vegetable oil.

    salt and pepper.

  • For the sweet potatoes:

Place diced sweet potatoes on the last empty quarter of the baking sheet.

Sprinkle with brown sugar and top with knobs of butter.

Top with marshmallow bits if you like.

  • Bake at 160 °C for about 60 minutes until the vegetables are cooked and the turkey breast is done.

  • Serve with chicken sauce if you like.

  • Gobble till you wobble!

  • With this recipe you can celebrate Thanksgiving without stress: turkey dinner from the pan.
