On the surface, climate goals and environmental protection have little to do with looking for a job.

That’s not entirely true though – sustainability is a factor.

When looking for a job, interested parties often scroll through many job offers - the place of work, the exact job description, the potential salary and, for some, the added value also play a role.

However, these are only partial aspects that do not claim to name all the important aspects - more and more often it is also important for applicants how the company or company stands on the subject of sustainability.

A study by the career portal StepStone and the Handelsblatt Research Institute (HRI) on the subject of sustainability has shown that it is fundamentally important for three out of four respondents that this topic has a high priority for the future employer.

Slight differences can be seen above all in the assessment of women and men on this topic.

According to the study, the different generations hardly play a role.

The older generation (e.g. baby boomers) estimate the importance of corporate sustainability at 81 percent.

For the younger generation (Generation Z), the importance of sustainability is around 75 percent.
