Yellow teeth from poor nutrition?

There are a few things you should keep in mind to avoid unsightly tooth discolouration.

Every child knows that brushing your teeth regularly is important for a bright white, so-called toothpaste smile.

It is also well known that certain foods stain teeth yellow.

It is an open secret, for example, that coffee, our favorite morning drink, leaves marks on our teeth, even though tea is actually a much better pick-me-up.

You can find out below which drinks and foods can also be responsible for yellow teeth.

Although genetics play their part in tooth color, certain foods can increase tooth discoloration.

In addition to coffee, both white and red wine are common causes of yellow teeth.

On the one hand, wine causes deposits of dyes on the tooth surface, which discolor the teeth yellowish.

On the other hand, the acid contained attacks the teeth and discolouration is more easily tolerated.

In addition to the drinks mentioned, the following foods discolour teeth yellow

  • Berries: The acid contained in blackberries, blueberries, pomegranates and the like attacks the tooth enamel, and the color pigments also ensure that the teeth turn yellow if they are eaten regularly.

  • Soy sauce: The popular Asian sauce that is eaten with sushi, for example, can leave residue and dark pigment spots on your teeth.

  • Balsamic vinegar: Balsamic vinegar can also leave traces on white teeth, which then turn yellow.

The acidity of vinegar also damages tooth enamel.

  • Spices: Spices such as curry, saffron and turmeric can also be responsible for unsightly tooth discoloration.

If you don't want to completely avoid foods that stain your teeth, brushing your teeth is a proven method of preventing tooth discoloration.
