A man stole thousands of empty returnable bottles from a supermarket in Bremen and hoarded them in his apartment.

For weeks, three bags of PET bottles and around 20 shopping baskets have been disappearing from a secured collection point on the premises almost every day, which is why the branch manager installed video cameras, as the police in Bremen announced on Friday.

This way, the thief could be filmed climbing over the cage with the sacks, piling the loot into shopping carts and pulling away.

On Friday night, officials placed the 39-year-old near the scene of the crime.

According to the information, the police officers then found countless bags with a total of 5,500 PET bottles in the man's apartment.

Where the 39-year-old could have slept is questionable, as the officials reported.
