One month before Christmas, "the cold hasn't arrived yet, but the autumn-like bad weather will hit the southern regions for the whole weekend with potential flood phenomena.
This is happening as a result of a new cyclone on the Tyrrhenian Sea which will generate torrential rains, especially towards Ionian Calabria with stormy winds"
, are forecasts by Antonio Sanò, director and founder of the site www.iLMeteo.it who adds: "The first rains, sometimes strong, will arrive in Sardinia and then towards Liguria di Levante and Upper Tuscany, from the afternoon. The first showers will also arrive in the Tyrrhenian sector between Lazio and Campania in the evening".
"The worst day will be Saturday - continues Sanò - with possible storms scattered throughout the Center-South, less probable in Tuscany and northern Marche. In the north, however, the weather will be dry except for some showers in the morning in Romagna.
From the point of view of rain , if the eye of the storm on Sunday 'wanders' still around the archipelago of Malta, we will have persistent storms on the Ionian slopes of Calabria and Sicily
: in this way over the weekend 200 mm of rain could fall in 48 hours on these two regions".
According to Sanò, "this new cyclone will also bring strong 'cyclonic rotation' winds: this means that the wind direction will be counterclockwise around the low pressure minimum. For example, when the cyclone is in the central Tyrrhenian Sea, we will
have prevailing winds from the north -East on the Upper Adriatic, from the North-West on Sardinia, from the South in Sicily and from the South-East on the Lower Adriatic
. And on Sunday reinforcement is expected on the Ionian slopes of Calabria and Sicily".
The trend for next week: mostly dry weather on Monday 28 November then a new cyclone over Italy.
