King Charles III
Staying true to tradition, the monarch will use the same famous red suitcase as his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, and her father and grandfather.
The company Barrow Hepburn & Gale, which specializes in leather, has restored and adapted the suitcase – known in English as the “Red Box” – using special techniques, the British news agency PA and several media reported on Friday.
It was also provided with Charles' new monogram.
The long history of the traditional example, which is to be sent to King Charles shortly, can be seen: the words "King George V." are engraved on the lock - a sign that Queen Elizabeth II's grandfather used the suitcase.
He was British Head of State from 1910 to 1936.
British monarchs and ministers receive important papers in the red suitcases every day - including legal papers to be signed, but also letters and announcements.
At the same time, several of these suitcases are in circulation.
In September, the new British king had himself photographed for the first time reading government documents from the famous “Red Box”.
