(ANSA) - PAVIA, NOVEMBER 25 - The man rescued last Monday in a street in Mortara (Pavia), in Lomellina, where he had been abandoned half-naked after being beaten, died at the Polyclinic of Pavia.
His conditions had appeared very serious from the moment of his arrival in the intensive care unit of San Matteo.
Despite the medical care, there was nothing they could do.
The victim has not yet been identified: he had no documents with him, apparently he looked like a man in his fifties of North African origin.
When the rescuers arrived, around 5 on Monday 22 November, he was unconscious.
He was immediately intubated and stabilized on the spot, before being transferred by ambulance to the Pavia hospital.
The injuries found by the doctors made one think of a probable beating, which took place during the night without any witnesses.
The carabinieri immediately launched investigations to trace the identity of the wounded man and reconstruct the episode.
