Since November 13, when his mother has not returned home, a two-year-old boy has been living at the home of Lega deputy Mirco Carloni, president of the Agriculture Commission of the Chamber, in Fano (Pesaro Urbino).

Her mother was called

Anastasiia Alashrj,

she was a 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee who arrived in Italy in March, fleeing the war and is one of the latest victims of feminicide in recent weeks.

In Fano, where she lived in viale Trieste together with her little son and her ex-husband, she had found work as a waitress at the Osteria della Peppa,

the historic restaurant of the Carloni family,

managed by her sister.

However, the marriage had become increasingly conflictual, so much so that Anastasiia and the child had taken refuge in the home of a colleague and on 11 November the girl had denounced her ex-husband for abuse in the family.

Two days later she had returned home to get her belongings and she had gone missing.

The ex-husband, a pastry chef with dual nationality, Egyptian and Ukrainian, had been tracked down at the Bologna station.

Anastasiia's body, with the marks of three stab wounds, had been found in an abandoned trolley in the countryside.

In those hours Carloni began to take care of the child, together with his wife, thanks to a temporary custody decided by the Social Services and ratified by the Juvenile Court of Ancona: "I asked if you could come to my house,

The next morning we also accompanied him to kindergarten so as not to interrupt his routine".

"It was the most natural thing to do, anyone would have done it" underlines the deputy,

former regional councilor for economic development. Who admits, however, that he felt " freeze" when the first evening the child asked for his mother. However, he has no perception of what happened: "he is cheerful and polite" and an affectionate circle has created around him which includes the family members of Carloni, the 8-year-old daughter , a nephew, other relatives and friends." My wife is exceptional - followed - we went back to buy diapers, we took my daughter's high chair out of the attic.

Some friends gave away clothes and a cot". Carloni knew Anastasiia, "a polite and kind girl, ready to make any sacrifice to give her son a better future". A few days ago Anastasiia's mother arrived in Fano with another daughter. "He can stay here as long as necessary - underlines the parliamentarian - in the meantime he is meeting his grandmother here, according to the procedures established by the Juvenile Court".

A permanent custody?

"Grandma is the best thing a child can have in a situation like this, we are there and we would like to help him as much as possible. Maybe a journey with psychologists,,. but ours was just a gesture of love", concludes Carloni.
