(ANSA) - ISTANBUL, NOVEMBER 27 - An Italian woman was arrested yesterday in Istanbul as she took part in the demonstration, banned by the prefecture, to celebrate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

The activists of the Mor Dayanisma association denounce it on Instagram.

"Two women, from Azerbaijan and Italy, are still detained and could be expelled", reads an Instagram post by the association which denounced a "violent police repression" against the demonstrators and dozens of arrests.

The girl's name is Dalila Procopio and tomorrow she will be transferred to a repatriation centre.

A lawyer among the activists who organized the demonstration told ANSA.

DalilaProcopio had been in Turkey for a few months on a tourist visa, he added.
