A surprise in the kingdom: The British "Daily Mail" reported this morning (Sunday) that
King Charles III
plans to give
Princess Charlotte
the title of Duchess of Edinburgh.
The choice is considered particularly surprising, because in recent months it was believed that
Prince Edward
, Charles' younger brother, would be the one to receive the title.
An insider to the royal house said that it is not yet an official matter, but it seems that it will happen in the future: "There are still discussions on the subject, but Charlotte is Charles' choice. He thinks it will be a proper way to commemorate
Queen Elizabeth II
, who carried the title."
A surprising choice.

Seven-year-old Charlotte is the middle daughter of
Prince William
and
Kate Middleton
, and the third to inherit the crown after her father and her older brother,
Prince George
.
When Middleton was pregnant, royal law was changed to give the heiress equal rights to her brother.
The title is considered one of the most senior in the kingdom: "Princess Charlotte will have a big role in history, as she will be the first woman whose place in line to the crown will not be displaced by her younger brother," said a chatty insider.
