Gimbe, cases (+10%) and deaths (+8.8%) rise in 7 days

Covid-19 infections and ordinary hospitalizations have increased in the last 7 days in Italy. Deaths also increased again (+8.8%), while intensive care remained substantially stable (+1.2%). Fourth doses still decreasing (-14.5%). Discovered 3 out of 4 (ANSA)


Covid-19 infections (+10%) and ordinary hospitalizations (+9.1%) have increased in the last 7 days in Italy.

Deaths are also growing again (+8.8%), while intensive care units remain substantially stable (+1.2%).

This was revealed by the independent monitoring of the Gimbe Foundation

for the week of 18-24 November.

Compared to the previous week, there was an increase in new cases (229,122 vs 208,346) and deaths (580 vs 533).

Currently positive cases are also increasing (492,457 vs 452,895), people in home isolation (484,594 vs 445,667), hospitalizations (7,613 vs 6,981) and intensive care (250 vs 247).

In particular,

17 Regions recorded an increase in new cases

(from 2.2% in Lazio to 39.3% in Valle d'Aosta) and 4 a decrease (from -1.6% in the Autonomous Province of Trento to -13, 4% of Sardinia).

In 84 provinces there was an increase in new cases and a decrease in 23

.

The incidence exceeds 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 22 provinces.

The number of total tampons is also growing (+7%)

.

In particular, rapid swabs increased by 8.1% (+79,278), while molecular ones by 2% (+4,185).

The 7-day moving average of the positivity rate rises from 12.3% to 13.5% for molecular swabs and from 18.4% to 18.8% for rapid antigens.

"On the hospital front - says Marco Mosti, Chief Operating Officer of the Gimbe Foundation - intensive care remains substantially stable (+1.2%), while hospitalizations in the medical area rise (+9.1%)".

In absolute terms, the Covid bed places occupied in the critical area, after reaching the minimum of 203 on 10 November, rose to 250 on 24 November;

in the medical area, after reaching a low of 6,347 on November 11, they reached 7,613 on November 24.

As of 24 November, the national rate of employment by Covid patients is 12% in the medical area (from 6% in Sardinia to 31.3% in Umbria) and 2.5% in the critical area (from 0% in the Province autonomous Bolzano and Valle d'Aosta to 4.3% of Emilia-Romagna).

Deaths, on the other hand, are growing again: 580 in the last 7 days (of which 18 refer to previous periods),

As for

vaccinations

, Gimbe underlines that

the administrations of the fourth dose are still decreasing in seven days (-14.5%).

Currently, he reports,

almost 3 out of 4 people are discovered, a "serious and inexplicable delay in the communication plan on the vaccination campaign".

The audience for the second booster (fourth dose) includes 19.1 million people.


As of Nov. 25, 4,959,123 fourth doses have been administered, averaging 23,666 per day, still down from 27,671 last week. 

Based on the official audience of people who should receive the fourth dose (19,119,772 of which 13,060,462 over 60, 3,990,080 frail, 1,748,256 health personnel and 320,974 guests of the RSA) almost three out of four people are still uncovered: the national coverage rate for the fourth doses, in fact, is 25.9% with clear regional differences (from 11.8% in Calabria to 39.1% in Piedmont).

With respect to the fifth dose, Gimbe underlines the monitoring, "no official data on administrations is yet available". 

In the week of 18-24 November, new vaccinated people also fell: 1,040 compared to 1,301 in the previous week (-20.1%).

As of November 25, 6.8 million people over the age of 5 have not received a single dose of the vaccine.
