The run on propane gas cylinders has flared up in hardware stores.
Concerns about a blackout are driving customers into the markets.
Because even a nice fireplace could replace the heating in winter.
Munich - In view of the rising costs for electricity and gas, people are increasingly looking for alternatives to heating.
Tea lights have been proven to do nothing to get a room toasty warm.
Fireplaces, on the other hand, do.
They not only ensure a cozy crackle, but also a pleasant warmth in the living room.
In any case, the Federal Association of Chimney Sweeps cannot complain about a lack of orders in these times.
According to the association, the demand for advice on stoves has increased by up to 75 percent.
But such a stove cannot be installed quickly.
The manufacturers cannot keep up with the current demand.
In some cases, oven studios have delivery times of up to six months, explains Andreas Walburg from the chimney sweeps' guild association in Sankt Augustin at
MyHomebook,
an online portal for better living.
However, the installation could not fail this winter because of the long waiting time.
The gas cylinders with which the ovens have to be fired are also becoming scarce.
Trend in hardware stores: Bottles are only exchanged one for one
Propane gas cylinders are currently very popular at Obi, Bauhaus, Hornbach and Toom.
But there is a shortage.
At Hornbach, this is explained by the fact that fewer bottles are returned than are sold.
The well-known red returnable bottles, aluminum gas and Tenneker grill gas are currently rare, explains a spokesman for Hornbach.
At the hardware store, customers now only receive full bottles if they bring an empty bottle with them to exchange.
At Toom, too, the exchange of a propane gas bottle is currently only possible one-to-one, reports
MyHomebook

Apparently, the only reasonable explanation for the increased demand is that many customers want to turn on their grills during a power outage in order to prepare food on the balcony.
Others may want to set up a small romantic fire in the garden and hold stick bread on the embers.
But restaurateurs, caterers and operators of Christmas market stalls also need it to be cozy and warm for their guests.
Because the majority of patio heaters and patio heaters are operated with propane gas.

If, on the other hand, there is an unexpected power failure such as a blackout, of which citizens nationwide are now being warned at the municipal level, a warm blanket, a bit of exercise and, above all, staying calm in an emergency also help.
Those who are well prepared for such a catastrophe with a checklist certainly have an advantage.
And a crackling stove can still be installed in the coming winter.
