2022-11-28T12:21:03.056Z

But Tehran rejects the investigation by the UN Council for Human Rights and Berlin's "interventionism" on the repression (ANSA)

Unicef condemns "all violence against children and calls for an end to all forms of violence and abuse which, according to reports, have caused the death of more than 50 children and the injury of many others during public unrest in Iran".

And he remains "also

deeply concerned about the continuous raids and searches carried out in some schools. Schools must always be safe places for children".

The organization says it has "directly communicated its concern to the Iranian authorities".

The United Nations agency recalls that the Islamic Republic of Iran "is a party to the Convention on the Rights of the Child and has an obligation to respect, protect and fulfill the rights of children to life, privacy, to freedom of thought and peaceful assembly".

Hence the invitation to the authorities "to

respect the right of all children to gather peacefully as a fundamental guarantee, regardless of who they are or where they are

. The best interests of children must be at the center of government action, giving way children to safely claim their rights in all circumstances. Children must remain with their families, communities and schools and not in places that deprive them of their freedom".

"We once again echo the United Nations Secretary-General's call on security forces to refrain from the use of unnecessary or disproportionate force. Children and adolescents must be protected from all forms of harm that endanger not only their lives and their freedom, but also their mental and physical health", Unicef continues, expressing its

deepest condolences to the "too many mothers and fathers" who have experienced "the devastating loss of a child due to the riots ".

Working for nearly seventy years in Iran to support essential services for children, which have benefited millions of little ones, Unicef declares its commitment to continue its work with technical ministries and other partners alongside the agencies of the United Nations "to support the protection and realization of the rights of all children and adolescents in Iran."

   But meanwhile

the Iranian government announces that it will not cooperate with "the politicized mission of the United Nations Council for Human Rights".

This was stated by Tehran Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani, referring to the resolution adopted last week by

the Council which calls for an independent investigation into the repression of protests that have been going on for over two months in the country, following his death on 16 September in Tehran of Mahsa Amini, the 22-year-old of Kurdish origin who lost her life after being arrested for not wearing the veil correctly.

Furthermore, the Iranian Foreign Ministry has summoned the German ambassador in Tehran, Hans-Udo Muzel, to contest the "interventionist" attitude and the "unfounded statements" expressed by Berlin to criticize the repression of the protests

underway in the country .

The summons comes after Germany convened a special session of the UN Human Rights Council last week,

which called for an independent investigation into the crackdown on demonstrations.

The Iranian authorities have informed the German ambassador that the resolution of the UN Human Rights Council is a "wrong move based on a purely political

and instrumental approach", reiterating that they will not cooperate
