On November 30th, the long-awaited sequel to the fantasy cult classic Willow will start on the Disney+ streaming service.

To set the mood, there is a look at the history of the film and the long road to the sequel.

While working on the sixth installment of the Star Wars saga, filmmaker George Lucas met Warwick Davis, who was 17 at the time, and immediately liked him.

The short mime played the funny Ewok Wicket so convincingly that he immediately attracted attention.

Lucas had shelved the basic idea for "Willow" for a few years, but never forgot it.

One of the ideas implemented early on should now benefit Davis, because Lucas definitely didn't want to depict his Munchkins, which would later be called Nelwyns, with perspective tricks and oversized props.

In fact, from the outset he aimed to recruit actors of short stature.

He promised the British native that he would tailor the lead role for his upcoming film, and Warwick Davis would have been insane not to accept the generous offer.

He would play the hobbit-esque Willow Ufgood, who was chosen to protect the human baby Elora from the evil witch-queen Bavorda.

The Daikni girl was not just a mere child, but a chosen one who would end the black magician's reign of terror and usher in a new era of peace in the land of Nockmaar.
