Festive mood in the White House.
One day after the first Advent, the First Lady of the USA presented the Christmas decorations at the seat of government.
The motto this year: "We the People" - the words with which the American Constitution begins.
Jill Biden, First Lady
“I saw it everywhere I went. When our country comes together, we are stronger. What we have in common is so much bigger than what drives us apart. The soul of our nation is and always has been. We the people. «
Whether that looks kitschy or pathetic is in the eye of the beholder.
Undoubtedly, however, the Christmas decorations in the White House are an attraction.
50,000 visitors are expected in the Advent season.
And there is a lot to see in the huge and imposing halls in the house of the presidential family.
77 Christmas trees - all artificial, and one covered with - of course also artificial - snow.
A five meter high tree is supposed to represent the unity of the country.
Jill Biden, First Lady
»Room by room, we represent what brings us together during the holiday season and throughout the year. «
In the banquet hall, the stockings by the fireplace bear the names of the Bidens' grandchildren.
Her dog, Commander, and her cat, Willow, also have their own Christmas outfits.
As every year, a gingerbread version of the White House was built from dough and icing.
More than 150 volunteers from all over the country worked on the decoration for a whole week.
