Changes in December 2022 - one-off payment to gas customers to relieve consumers

The federal government recently decided to put a brake on gas prices for 2023. 80 percent of the current gas consumption should be capped at a price of twelve cents per kilowatt hour.

When heating with district heating, the price per kilowatt hour is only 9.5 cents.

In addition, gas customers will be relieved as early as December 2022.

Gas and district heating customers do not have to pay the December discount.

The actual consumption in December is not taken into account, but one twelfth of the gas consumed in the year.

The energy price flat rate for pensioners will be paid out in December 2022

Ever increasing energy prices affect every segment of the population in Germany.

For example, Hamburg Energie increased its prices massively.

Pensioners also suffer from pensions that are too low for prices that are too high.

Therefore, the federal government called the energy price flat rate - this also applies to pensioners.

On December 15, the energy price flat rate of 300 euros is to be paid out to pensioners.

There is no need to apply for this, the money ends up directly in the account.

Pensioners sometimes even receive double the energy price flat rate.

However, caution is advised: there are currently some attempts at fraud against pensioners.

In December 2022, a so-called "warning day" will take place across Germany

A nationwide warning day is planned for December 8, 2022.

The federal and state governments check their warning devices in a joint exercise.

"For the first time, the test warning message will also be sent via cell broadcast and will reach around half of all mobile phones in Germany directly," the federal government announced.

The system is a disaster warning system that is not only intended to warn smartphone users of any disasters.

So don't be surprised if your cell phone rings at 11:00 am on December 8th.

The all-clear comes at 11:45 a.m., also as an SMS in the cell broadcast.

Vaccination for employees in care facilities will no longer apply from the end of December 2022

So far, nurses in facilities and hospitals had to be vaccinated against the corona virus - this has been the case since March 15, 2022. This regulation of compulsory vaccination will no longer apply at the end of 2022, so far there is no innovation in sight.

The responsible ministry explains why the vaccination requirement in paragraph 20a of the Infection Protection Act should not be extended:

A full vaccination protects better against a severe course, but does not prevent transmission.

Due to the currently increasing corona variant BQ1.1, more vaccinated people are getting corona anyway, the federal government announced.
