Anything for a good photo?
A 24-year-old in Heidelberg is said to have poured fire accelerant over a pile of green waste several meters high and set it on fire, as the police in Mannheim announced on Tuesday.
The man stated that he wanted to photograph the "silhouette of the flickering flames in the foreground".
Nobody got hurt.
According to the information, the police and fire brigade were alerted to the fire on Monday evening.
While the fire brigade was putting out the blazing heap, police officers discovered the 24-year-old not far from the scene of the fire.
The officers then confiscated the man's photographic equipment.
They are investigating, among other things, property damage by arson.
