Paypal introduces penalty fee – online payment service asks inactive users to checkout

Anyone who is inactive with Paypal for too long is threatened with immediate fines - and in the worst case, the loss of their account.
San José - Paypal has become indispensable when paying for purchases made online.
However, millions of customers now have to be careful.
PayPal has once again updated their terms and conditions, and this time you should read the changes that apply worldwide.
Failure to do so could result in a fine and, in the worst case, the account being deleted.
As can be read on PayPal's homepage, the online payment service began informing inactive customers on November 14, 2022 and the online payment service wants to punish inactive users.
In the first countries, PayPal asked users to pay as early as 2020, including retailers.
Paypal charges an inactivity fee of up to ten euros
"Use your account to avoid an inactivity fee," reads the note in the payment processor's email.
It is aimed at customers who have not logged into their account for at least a year.
You now face an inactivity fee of up to ten euros.
What is new is that private individuals can also be affected.
Paypal recently canceled the reimbursement of return costs.
If you don't use Paypal, you'll soon have to pay fees.

The new rules and fees are effective immediately in many countries.
Germany, among others, is not yet affected.
The reference is only found in a footnote.
It states that Germany, Austria, Italy, Greece, Hungary and Poland are still exempt from the inactivity fee this year - i.e. 2022.
In these countries it should be ready in 2023.
Paypal closes account after a long period of inactivity
The inactivity fee is very easy to avoid.
According to the payment service, a registration with the PayPal account is sufficient.
Likewise, one can send money to friends, pay for a purchase, withdraw credit, or donate to a charity.
The penalty fee is only due if an account has a positive balance.
If the balance is less than ten euros, only so much is squeezed off that the account does not slide into the red.
Once PayPal has collected the inactivity fee and the account is not used for 60 days, PayPal will close it.
PayPal's Moneypool service has not been available for a long time.
