(ANSA) - ROME, NOVEMBER 29 - In the past "we have demonstrated that NATO's doors are open" but "our main focus on Ukraine now is to provide urgent and necessary help to defend themselves and repair energy infrastructure".
This was stated by the NATO secretary general, Jens Stoltenberg, in a press conference after the Foreign Ministerial in Bucharest.
"We recognize and respect Ukraine's membership aspirations. However, our goal now is to provide immediate support for defense against Russian aggression," he stressed.
In any case, "we are discussing how to strengthen the political partnership with Ukraine".
