The animal was discovered in Saint-Michel-de-Saint-Geoirs in Isère.
A golden eagle was found injured by "at least one pellet" which caused him "an open fracture of the right humerus", announces the Tichodrome, a care center for wildlife in Isère.
"In the fall caused by this shot, he suffered a violent frontal impact on the skull, causing damage to both eyes", continues the care center quoted by France 3.
The animal's health is still closely monitored by veterinarians who fear for the sight of the golden eagle, a protected species.

“This convalescence will cost more than 2,000 euros, in costs related to care (treatments and veterinary products), time spent in the clinic and at the Tichodrome, food costs… While this cause of entry is clearly criminal and voluntary, deplores Mireille Lattier, director of the Tichodrome.
Moreover, if this individual survives, he will not be released for several months depending on the speed of his convalescence;
he will miss the next breeding season of his species.
The League for the Protection of Birds (LPO) Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and the Tichodrome must file a complaint jointly.
According to the LPO, 23 birds belonging to a protected species have already been shot this year in the region.
For Marie-Paule de Thiersant, president of the LPO Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, “this shooting is criminal and unacceptable.
We ask that the perpetrator, if discovered, be severely punished.
