Many employees can look forward to a Christmas party this year.
After all, it's a nice opportunity to chat with colleagues about private matters outside the office walls, while eating well and ending the sociable evening on a boozy note.
In the past two years, most of these have been canceled due to the corona crisis, so there is still a lot of catching up to do.

But the unwritten rules on how to behave properly at a Christmas party with your boss and colleagues are still relevant.
Some of these are very simple: Even if the boss is wearing his generous pants, you shouldn't go overboard at the bar.
It doesn't make a good impression if you slur the other people around or end up completely exhausted in the corner - or even worse.

A glass of sparkling wine, a glass of wine here and there and lots of water in between ensure that you keep a clear head at the Christmas party.
Also, don't forget to eat well so you have a solid foundation.
Otherwise, when you're in exuberance, you might end up asking the boss awkward questions.
But it doesn't go over well if you're tipsy or even drunk at the party and ask him for more salary or the like.

Christmas party is not compulsory
If you don't know your co-workers very well or don't like them, it's always safer to make small talk and orientate yourself on what the others are doing.
By the way: If you don't feel like going to the Christmas party, you don't have to go.
Christmas parties usually take place in the evening or after work and are therefore not compulsory.
But if it takes place during working hours, you are free to decide whether you want to go or not.
