Green was yesterday - Hanggi's Tree Farm in Naples, New York offers less traditional Christmas trees in purple.
The trees polarize, as the Facebook comments show.
So far, when looking for a Christmas tree, the question was whether the tree should be real or made of plastic, or whether fir or spruce would be better suited.
A farm in New York State takes it a step further and offers its customers purple Christmas trees.

It is a well-known fact that taste is a matter of debate: Some people only sporadically decorate their tree with a few baubles, while for others it cannot be decorated enough with tinsel, fairy lights and opulent baubles.
A purple Christmas tree for sale in New York is now causing a stir on Facebook.

The trees are sprayed with a paint that is not harmful to plants, humans or animals and is most similar to food coloring.
Only about five percent of the goods sold are color-changed by the owners David and Benjamin Hanggi, which increases demand even more.
