From the award-winning Israeli film Jennifer Lopez in a wedding dress: everything coming to cinemas in December | Israel today

A well-intentioned Tel Avivian who causes total chaos • Back to the huge hit from 2009 • Jennifer Lopez returns to the world of weddings • The Tree Boy returns in another new version • Yishai Kitchels has prepared a watch list for you

"Concerned Citizen" - December 9

The much talked about new film by screenwriter-director Idan Hagoel ("Inertia"), which won two awards at the recent Jerusalem Film Festival, tells the story of Ben (Shlomi Bartonov), a well-intentioned Tel Aviv man who plants a tree on his street and thereby leads to a sequence of violent and tragic events.

Other participants: Ariel Wolf, Lena Freifeld, Ilan Hazan and Uriah Yablonovsky.

"Pinocchio" - December 9

On the one hand, who has the strength for another version of "Pinocchio"?

After all, we only recently got the one with Tom Hanks as Grandpa Geppetto, and she was nothing (to say the least).

On the other hand, the current version, which was created using the stop-motion technique, is signed by the talented Mexican director Guillermo del Toro ("Pan's Labyrinth"), and the reviews so far strongly claim that it is a dark and beautiful masterpiece that has no difficulty in being one of the cinematic highlights of the year.

In short, it is recommended to give it a chance.

Gregory Mann voices Pinocchio, David Bradley voices Geppetto, and the supporting voice cast includes Ewan McGregor, Ron Perlman, Tilda Swinton, Cate Blanchett, John Turturro, and Christoph Waltz.

"Avatar 2: The Way of the Water" - December 15

Undoubtedly one of the most intriguing blockbusters of recent years (and with a budget estimated at about 400 million dollars, without a doubt the most expensive of them).

Screenwriter-director James Cameron ("Terminator", "Titanic") finally returns to the planet Pandora with another 3D epic centered on the stubborn struggle between the Nabi (blue) and humans (greed).

Will he be able to reproduce the hysterical international success of his huge hit from 2009?

We will know soon.

With Kate Winslet, Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver.

"Finding Richard" - December 22

An inspiring drama based on a true story, centered on an amateur historian from Edinburgh (Sally Hawkins) who decides to dedicate her life to finding the bones of King Richard.

Steve Coogan and Jeff Pope, who co-wrote "Philomena", signed the screenplay, and veteran British master Stephen Frears ("High Fidelity", "Dangerous Liaisons", "The Queen") is in charge of directing.

"A Well-Written Murder 2: A Greek Mystery" - Dec. 23 (Netflix)

Three years after we first met him, celebrated detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) returns to solve another murder mystery.

The plot this time takes place on an isolated Greek island that is owned by an Elon Musk-style megalomaniac (Edward Norton), and the list of suspects includes Dave Battista ("Guardians of the Galaxy"), Kate Hudson ("Almost Famous"), Leslie Odom Jr., G. Annele Monet and Catherine Hahn.

Rian Johnson ("Looper", "The Last Jedi"), who returned to the director's throne, presents a witty, far-fetched script full of twists, and the result is an entertaining and surprising sequel that does not in the least fall short of the original film (and maybe even surpasses it).

"After the Sun" - December 29

A small, subtle and acclaimed drama that became a huge festival hit.

In the center of the plot: 11-year-old Sophie spends the summer vacation with her father on the Turkish Riviera.

Twenty years later, Sophie looks back on her memories and examines the experience - and her relationship with her father - through mature eyes.

Charlotte Wells wrote and directed.
