A flock of sheep caused a police operation on a motorway exit in Braunschweig.

What happened to the shepherd with his animals.

A large flock of sheep caused the police to block the motorway for around two hours on a motorway slip road in Braunschweig.

The officials describe what happened: A shepherd wanted to lead his sheep from one pasture to another on Sunday.

"For this he wanted to cross the driveway to the A 39," says the police report.

He had done this several times before, the German Press Agency quoted a police spokesman as saying.

However, the shepherd did not know that new crash barriers were being built in the area.

The sheep ran between the barriers that blocked the way for the animals to their meadow.

The police officers brought the sheep to safety - they had to block the driveway "to guide the shepherd and his more than 100 sheep safely to the pasture," says the police report.
