Holtenau high bridges: full closure after collision

The Holtenauer Hochbrücken in Kiel are currently completely closed after an accident.
The police reported this.
A freighter loaded with a crane and sailing under the Finnish flag was heading towards Brunsbüttel early Wednesday morning when it rammed both bridges with the crane boom.
Since the accident at 4.30 a.m., both the bridges and the Kiel Canal have been closed to all traffic.
The water police have started the investigation.
It is currently unclear how extensive the damage is.
Parts of the crane are said to have fallen into the water.
The fire brigade is currently trying to bind the hydraulic oil that ran into the sewer.
The statics of the bridge will be checked during the day.
How the collision happened is still under investigation.
