(ANSA) - VATICAN CITY, NOVEMBER 30 - The Vatican Economy Minister, Father Juan Antonio Guerrero Alves, has resigned.
He had been appointed Prefect of the Secretariat for the Economy by Pope Francis in November 2019. Guerrero had taken over the dicastery then led by Cardinal Georg Pell.
The Pontiff had chosen the Jesuit for his expertise in economic and financial matters, asking him to put his hand on the reforms.
The Vatican says Guerrero resigned "for personal reasons".
The Pope has appointed a layman, Maximino Caballero Ledo, currently secretary general, as prefect.
