(ANSA) - ROME, DECEMBER 01 - The employment rate rose to 60.5% in October compared to the previous month.
It is the record level since 1977, the first year of the Istat historical series.
There was an increase of 82,000 employees over September, and of 496,000 over the year.
Overall, there were 23,231,000 employed people in October, exceeding the pre-pandemic record set in June 2019 for the first time. The driving force behind this were permanent employees who were 117,000 more than September and 502,000 more than October 2021. Thus the total unemployment drops to 7.8% (-0.1 points) in October and youth unemployment drops to 23.9% (-0.2 points).
The inactivity rate decreased to 34.3% (-0.2 points).
The number of job seekers falls (-0.4%, equal to -8 thousand units compared to September) among males and in all age groups
age with the exception of 25-34 year olds.
The decrease in the number of inactive people between the ages of 15 and 64 (-0.5%, equal to -62 thousand units) involves women, 25-34 year olds and those over 50.
Compared to October 2021, the number of people looking for work decreased (-14.0%, equal to -321 thousand units) and the number of inactive people between the ages of 15 and 64 (-2.6%, equal to -336 thousand).
