Only at the end was one person spoiling Hucknall's good mood.

Munich – Sigh, that was nice: Mick Hucknall aka Simply Red gave a wonderful concert on Wednesday evening in the sold-out Olympiahalle.

An hour and a half without a filter, without frills.

With one exception (more on that later) everyone should have left the concert inspired and with a smile after a good 90 minutes.

"I am Mick and I sing a little bit", with these words Hucknall introduces himself after the fifth song, then: "Holding Back the Years", one of the classics.

At least now Simply Red (singer plus six great musicians) conjures up the first smile of the evening on people's faces.

Because at 62, Mick Hucknall still sounds the same as he did back in 1986, when "Holding Back the Years" was a number one hit.

At the last German concert of the "Blue Eyed Soul" tour in Munich, Hucknall leaves nothing to be desired: "Stars", "Come to My Aid", "Fairground", "Something Got Me Started" - he sings them all.

"Maybe it's time for a little funky and dancing.

You're change!” says Mick Hucknall after “Holding Back The Years”.

The predominantly over 40 audience doesn't need to be asked twice and dances, sings and revels happily for the next 70 minutes.

This voice!

Soft and warm as ever, intense at the same time.

Mick Hucknall gives it his all – you can hear and see it from the very back and top rows: the close-ups of the singer that are shown on the screens are like the Englishman himself: authentic and without filters.

The singer behaves like this shortly before the end of the regular set when he insults a security guard in front of the stage because they don't let the people in the fully seated hall come forward.

The words translated: “You stand around, tell people all evening where they can stand and go and where not.

You paid a lot of money for the ticket, let them through!" In the original: "Piss off!

Go out and drink another coffee!” This is followed by the penultimate song of the regular set: “Something Got Me Started”, while Hucknall looks again in the direction of the security guard and the A-word can clearly be seen on his lips.

Then full concentration on the music again with the last track "Fairground" and the encores "Better with you", "Money's Too Tight (To Mention)", and "If You Don't Know Me by Now".

At the end, of course, the stage is bathed in red light and Mick Hucknall says goodbye to the cold beer that is waiting for him backstage, as he says with great anticipation.

Only one person should not have left the concert with a smile and a good feeling.

The rest do.
