At Christmas time, more letters and parcels are sent than ever before.
To ensure that the package arrives in time for the festival, Deutsche Post has now announced deadlines:
Deutsche Post has more to do at Christmas time than usual. Not surprising, because it is a tradition to give presents to family and friends on the occasion of the celebration of love.
When gift-giving cannot be done on a personal level, many use parcel service.
Deutsche Post and DHL have now published deadlines for those who want to send Christmas presents to their loved ones on time, as HEIDELBERG24 reports:
So that everything arrives on time: Deadlines for postcards and letters at Christmas
For most people, giving and receiving presents is part and parcel of Christmas.
Since many letters and at least as many packages are sent to loved ones at Christmas time, it is important to know the shipping times of Deutsche Post and DHL.
After all, all packages should arrive on time for the festival.
Sending postcards and letters does not take as long as parcels.
If these are sent within Germany, Post customers must have mailed them in by Thursday (December 22nd).
For letters in other EU countries, these must be in the mailbox by Wednesday (December 14) at the latest.
According to Deutsche Post, Wednesday (December 7) is the latest deadline for letters to reach countries outside of Europe on time.
Sending Christmas gifts via DHL: Deadlines for small packages and parcels
The deadlines for parcels are slightly different, as experience has shown that they take longer to reach the recipient.
If you miss the deadline, you run the risk that the Christmas present will not reach the recipient until after the holidays.
The deadline for sending parcels within Germany is December 20th.
There are different deadlines in other European countries: The last date for parcels to neighboring countries (except France) is Thursday (December 15).
If the Christmas package travels to France or Italy, DHL customers must send it one day earlier, i.e. on Wednesday (December 14).
For all other European countries, the parcels must already be posted on Monday (December 12) and for parcels outside of Europe the deadline is Tuesday (November 29).
Just in time for the Christmas season, the cult film "Three hazelnuts for Cinderella" will be shown on television again - these are all broadcast dates at a glance.
Christmas mail should be on time: tips for receiving parcels
A good thing: Despite all the deadlines, most Swiss Post branches are open until 12 noon on December 24th and December 31st.
There are also tips from Deutsche Post for a stress-free Advent season.
If possible, gifts should be ordered as early as possible and delivered directly to a Packstation or a storage location.

It is optimal if the parcels do not remain in the branch or packing station for long, but are picked up by the recipient as quickly as possible.
It also saves a lot of time at the counters if the Christmas mail is franked in advance - whether online or with the app.
With these deadlines and tips, nothing can get in the way of a relaxed Christmas time.
